VOLUNTEERS ARE ALWAYS NEEDED

Volunteers are, and continue to be the heart of Journey Home.

It is only through their efforts and endless devotion that we are able to fulfill our mission.  Through their compassion they continually provide exceptional care and support to the residents and their families.

Our volunteers, whether it is a direct Resident Caregiver or a Support volunteer, go through a training session.  Volunteers are an essential part of the continued success of Journey Home, without them the house could not survive!

Who Can Volunteer?
Anyone 18 yrs of age or older with a caring heart and time to share.  No medical background is necessary as the people you would care for can be managed in a home setting.  Our volunteers represent people from all walks of  life with varied interests and skills.

Becoming A Volunteer:
The first step is to call Journey Home (225-1240) expressing your interest to volunteer.  Please leave your name, home address and phone number.  A volunteer application will be sent to you.  When a training session is set up, a letter indicating the date and time will be sent to you.

**Training sessions are held once every 2-3 months.**

Resident caregivers: for hands-on care.  Full training is provided.  While compassionate volunteers for this area are always in need, we currently have a specific need for volunteers on the weekends.

Our resident caregivers assist our residents with daily tasks such as bathing, dressing, eating, and taking medications which are pre-measured. Caregivers are always supported by a licensed registered nurse.

Support caregivers:
Not cut out to be a resident caregiver?  No problem!  We have many other ways you can help out as well.  We also need volunteers to help with cleaning, cooking, clerical, and maintenance tasks not involving direct resident care.
